Meet Kash Addison: The Artist from Kinston, NC. Turning Pain into Power and Vibes into Victory

Industry Spotlight
Paul Addison Jr., better known as Kash Addison, is more than just a name — it’s a statement. To those closest to him, he’s PJ. But to the world, he’s Kash — a self-made artist whose name stands for Kill And Stay Humble. That motto defines everything he stands for: hungry, focused, and grounded in faith.

Hailing from the small town of Kinston, North Carolina (252, stand up!), Kash comes from humble beginnings. Growing up in Eastern Carolina, he didn’t have inspirational childhood moments in the traditional sense — instead, it was the pain and struggle that pushed him to break generational curses and create a better life for his kids. “Pain and suffering is what keeps me motivated to be great,” he shares. It’s that real-life adversity that shaped the man he is today.

Music found Kash early. He started rapping in the 3rd grade, drawn to writing through a natural love of words and storytelling. English class was his domain, and the pen became his weapon. But for Kash, it wasn’t just talent — it was divine purpose. “God chooses your path,” he says. “He has a specific plan for each of us.” And music is clearly part of his calling.

Despite his gifts, Kash doesn’t sugarcoat the journey. “I face challenges every day,” he admits. From adversity and hate to the pressures of maintaining an image, Kash keeps it real. “I’m just as normal as the next person. I have real life issues just like the next man.” But instead of letting those challenges break him, he uses them as fuel.

His biggest influence? His circle. “My inspiration comes from the people around me — my family keeps me grounded.” That support system has been essential, especially through one of his proudest accomplishments: bouncing back. After his music career came to a halt at its peak, Kash had to start over from scratch. But not only did he recover — he gained momentum faster than expected, showing the strength of his character and the depth of his grind.

Kash’s most recent projects show both sides of his artistry. Everybody Hates Kash embraces the negativity he’s received and flips it into motivation, proving that hate only fuels his hunger. On the flip side, But Ladies Love Trac! is all about the vibe — smooth, confident tracks that speak directly to the ladies. It’s this duality that makes Kash such a powerful presence in the game.

When he’s not in the studio, Kash finds peace on the basketball court. The game gives him space to reset and reconnect with himself — a balance that every great artist needs.

So what’s next for Kash? More music. More energy. More purpose. “I’m here to prove everybody wrong,” he declares. “If you ever doubted me, crossed me, or left me hanging — this one’s for you.”
